Band will record new single during gaps in hectic live schedule...

THE BETA BAND plan to record a new song and release it as a single before the end of the year.

The band are hoping to record the track next month during a gap in their hectic touring schedule, which does not finish until the end of December.

A spokesperson confirmed that the band would not be releasing any tracks from their eponymous debut album, which came out last month, and which the band labelled in NME as “fucking awful” and the “worst record made this year”.

But she added: “They’ve said they’ll record something new instead. We’ve just got to wait and see now if it’ll happen but they’ve got plenty of ideas.”

The Betas travel to New Zealand and Australia later this month then after a short break in August, they continue their live dates in Germany, Holland and Belgium.

The spokeswoman joked: “Maybe in the middle of August, if they’re not having a breakdown, they could get some stuff done. Or maybe they can do bits as they go along.”
