McElderry sings a line at the start of 'Love On Top' - but Beyoncé might not know about it
Beyonce ended up singing with former X Factor champion Joe McElderry during her show at Manchester Arena on Wednesday night (May 8), though she may not know about it.
Before beginning her rendition of ‘Love On Top’, the singer gave fans in the front row the chance to trill a few lines for the packed arena. Earlier in the tour, Princess Eugenie had been too shy to show off her vocal talents when presented with Beyoncé’s microphone, but McElderry seized the opportunity and chipped in with a tuneful “ba ba ba ba”. McElderry later took to Twitter to gush about the incident, posting:
McElderry is not the only X Factor star Beyoncé has had the pleasure of singing with. She famously performed her Dreamgirls ballad ‘Listen’ with Alexandra Burke on the final of the TV singing contest in 2008 – which Burke went on to win.
Meanwhile, McElderry duetted with George Michael during his victorious X Factor final the following year and, somewhat improbably, has recently recorded a charity single with soul legend Dionne Warwick. Titled ‘One World One Song’, it comes out on May 27 with all proceeds going to The Hunger Project UK.
Beyonce‘s ‘The Mrs Carter Show World Tour’ continues tomorrow night (May 11) with the first of two dates at The O2 in Dublin.
