Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child reunite at Super Bowl halftime show – watch

Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams join Beyonce onstage in New Orleans

Beyonce reunited with her Destiny’s Child bandmates, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams at last night’s Super Bowl halftime show (February 3).

The trio came together midway through Beyoncé’s prestigious appearance in the middle of the American football game between the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers, with Rowland and Williams springing out of trapdoors to join her onstage. All three were dressed in skimpy black leather outfits. Scroll down to see video footage of the full performance.

They performed a brief medley of songs, including 2001’s ‘Bootylicious’ and 2000’s ‘Independent Women’, before a ring of flames circled the stage and the three women sang Beyonce’s 2008 hit ‘Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)’.

“I want you all to give it up for the lovely Kelly and Michelle,” said Beyoncé, as the two women left the stage.

Rumoured appearances from Justin Timberlake and Beyonce’s husband Jay-Z, did not materialise, but the singer sang snippets of hits from throughout her career, opening with ‘Love On Top’, before shouting “Superdome, 1,2,3,4,” and bursting into ‘Crazy In Love’ flanked by a host of dancers, also dressed in black.

The short set made use of a raft of pyrotechnics, including fireworks being launched from the side of the stage – which was shaped like two women’s faces in profile – and sparks which shot out a guitarist’s instrument.

After ‘Crazy In Love’, Beyonce sang ‘End Of Time’ and ‘Baby Boy’, leading into the arrival of Destiny’s Child. She finished up the performance with ‘Halo’, kneeling down into the front rows of the crowd by the stage, which was erected in the middle of the pitch.

“Thank you for this moment. God bless y’all,” said Beyonce, upon leaving the stage and the 72,000 capacity audience. Following Beyoncé’s performance the stadium suffered a power cut, delaying the rest of the game.

Before the match began, Alicia Keys sang the US national anthem and Jennifer Hudson performed ‘America The Beautiful’, accompanied by the Sandy Hook Elementary School choir.

Destiny’s Child recently released a greatest hits collection called ‘Love Songs’, which features a brand new song, called ‘Nuclear’. It was previously reported that the reformed Destiny’s Child would play a medley consisting of ‘Bills, Bills, Bills’, ‘Survivor’ and new song ‘Nuclear’.

Yesterday, Beyonce revealed her secret to calming her performance nerves was making love to Jay-Z.

Speaking at an NFL press conference in New Orleans, she said: “When I get nervous or I don’t have everything together I like to make love to my husband.”

Following the controversy of her performance of ‘The Star Bangled Banner’ at Barack Obama’s presidential inauguration, Beyonce admitted that she was anxious ahead of the performance.

“I’ve been preparing for five months for this moment. I’m happy I’ll have my husband there with me – it’s every woman’s dream to feel this way about her husband,” she added.
