Leonardo DiCaprio has been touted to star alongside '4' singer in movie
Beyonce has confirmed she will star in Clint Eastwood‘s forthcoming film remake of A Star Is Born.
The singer, who had been strongly linked with the role, announced her casting during an appearance on US network ABC‘s Good Morning America – you can view a video of the interview by scrolling down and clicking below.
Beyonce said that it was an “incredible” honour to have been given the lead role in the movie.
“Clint Eastwood? Can you believe that? I can’t believe it still. When I met with him I was just in awe. I’m so, so honoured that he believes in me. And I can’t wait to do this film,” she commented.
Leonardo DiCaprrio has been touted for the male lead role in the film, which would see him portray an ageing film star who helps a young actress find fame.
A Star Is Born, which is due to be released next year, is a remake of three earlier versions, which came out in 1937, 1954 and 1976.
Janet Gaynor, Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand have previously played the lead in the film.
Meanwhile, Beyonce‘s new album ‘4’ is set to take the Number One spot in the albums chart tomorrow (July 3) following her acclaimed performance at Glastonbury last month (June 26).
