Malaysian party are concerned singer could promote 'Western sexy performances'

Beyonce has postponed a planned show in Malaysia following protests from the country’s Islamic opposition party.

The singer will now play her Kuala Lumpur show, originally set for October 25, at a later, currently unconfirmed, date.

The country’s Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party recently expressed concerns that the singer’s appearance would promote “western sexy performances”, according to Billboard.com.

However, entertainment company Marctensia stated: “The postponement is solely [the] decision of the artist, and has nothing to do with other external reasons.”

Beyonce previously cancelled a show in Malaysia in 2007, amid similar scenes of protest from the opposition party.
