Beyoncé’s stepfather says that she and Jay-Z will ‘confront the hard subjects’ on upcoming world tour

'This is gonna be really a culmination of their growth'

Beyoncé‘s stepfather Richard Lawson  says her and husband and Jay-Z will ‘confront the hard subjects’ on upcoming world tour.

Jay-Z made headlines with his high-profile infidelity,  with the rapper’s adultery coming to light on Beyoncé’s 2016 album ‘Lemonade’, with Jay later confirming the unfaithfulness on his ‘4:44’ record last year. Now, actor and Bey’s stepfather Lawson has said that the couple will be revealing more of their confessional side when they take to the stage for their ‘On The Run II’ tour later this year.

“Well, look at what they’ve been through in the last couple of years in terms of the things that they’ve confronted and the way that they’ve put it into art,” Lawson told PEOPLE. “This is gonna be really a culmination of their growth and their ability to really confront the hard subjects and the hard issues.”

He continued: “Beyoncé is one of the sweetest people in the world. She’s still 16 years old at her heart — she still laughs like a 16-year-old.

“She has more care and more concern and more love for humanity. She has more integrity, she’s a creative soul, she has a big, big, big, big, big vision about how to do things. She’s always moving the needle. I cannot tell you how proud I am of her and just how much I appreciate knowing such a large spirit. She’s an incredible human being.”

Speaking of his cheating during a new episode of David Letterman’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction Netflix show, Jay stressed that he is a “different person” now and that he’s “not the worst of what I’ve done”.

“For a lot of us, we don’t have, especially where I grew up and men in general, we don’t have emotional cues from when we’re young,” he argued. “Our emotional cues are ‘Be a man, stand up, don’t cry!’ I want to have the emotional tools that it takes to keep my family together.”

Jay added: “I have a beautiful wife who’s understanding and knew I’m not the worst of what I’ve done. We did the hard work of going to therapy and you know, we love each other, right? So we really put in the work.”

“I like to believe we’re in a better place today. But we’re still working and communicating and growing. And I’m proud of the father and the husband that I am today because of all the work that was done.”

“I now know I’m a different person and my worst fear is not coming to pass.”
