Bjork seeks to boost Icelandic economy

Singer creates venture fund for environmentally sound companies

Bjork has teamed up with venture capital firm Audur Capital to create a fund that would raise money to boost Iceland’s ailing economy.

The fund is appropriately named BJÖRK , and seeks “investors seeking investment opportunities in new venture creation and the business development of small companies with the objective of catalyzing the recovery of the Icelandic economy,” according to Audur Capital’s website.

Bjork has long been an advocate of environmentally friendly programmes and economic stimulus packages in her home country. Not surprisingly, the companies involved in this programme must be “sustainable, both in terms of financial returns as well as being socially and environmentally responsible”.
