The Pixies man's 'Bluefinger: The Fall And Rise Of Herman Brood' is about the life and death of a Dutch performer

PixiesBlack Francis has announced that a rock opera based on his music will open in November.

Drawing from Francis‘ 2007 album ‘Bluefinger’, Bluefinger: The Fall And Rise Of Herman Brood will begin on November 12 at The Catastrophic Theatre in Houston, Texas, reports Exclaim.ca.

The opera will be about the life and death of Dutch performer Herman Brood, who leapt to his death from the roof of the Amsterdam Hilton in 2001.

The roles of both Francis and Brood will be filled by Texas musicians Michael Haaga and Matt Kelly, respectively, while two live bands have chosen 20 songs from Francis‘ back catalogue to be performed during the play.
