Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus sends best wishes to Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day

Bass player reaches out to pop-punk frontman currently in rehab

Blink-182‘s Mark Hoppus has spoken out about Billie Joe Armstrong’s current stint in rehab, saying he wishes the Green Day frontman all the best.

Armstrong was admitted to rehab in October after smashing his guitar in a furious onstage rant prompted by organisers of a US festival trying to cut short the band’s set. Speaking to CBS Local, Hoppus admitted he had not spoken to Armstrong but extended a message to his friend.

“I don’t know exactly what’s going on. I saw what happened onstage, and then I saw the announcement, like, two days later or whatever it was, that he was checking himself in to get help,” Hoppus said about Armstrong. “I think that’s great if it’s what he needs, and I wish them all the best. They’re an amazing band and really cool guys, and I hope that all is good in their world.

He added: “Other than what I’ve heard in the news, I don’t know enough. I hope that Billie’s good, I hope that the band is in a good place and I wish them nothing but health and success for sure.”

Armstrong is set to remain in rehab until 2013 with many of Green Day’s live dates affected by the frontman’s unavailability. Green Day have brought forward the release of new album ‘Tre!’ to compensate fans who will be unable to see them performing live.
