Tom DeLonge details first-ever sci-fi novel ‘Poet Anderson… Of Nightmares’

The guitarist and singer recently claimed to have co-written 15 books

Former Blink-182 co-frontman Tom DeLonge has confirmed details of his debut novel.

The guitarist, who recently parted ways with Blink in a very public manner, previously claimed that he has co-written 15 novels with ‘best selling authors’ and will release each book with an accompanying EP soundtrack.

Now, DeLonge has announced ‘Poet Anderson… Of Nightmares’, a sci-fi novel co-written with best-selling young adult fiction author Suzanne Young.

A press release says of the plot: “Jonas Anderson and his older brother Alan are Lucid Dreamers. But after a car accident lands Alan in a coma, Jonas sets out into the Dream World in an attempt to find his brother and wake him up.”

“What he discovers instead is an entire shared consciousness where fear comes to life as a snarling beast called a Night Terror, and a creature named REM is bent on destruction and misery, devouring the souls of the strongest dreamers. With the help of a Dream Walker—a guardian of the dreamscape, Jonas must face his fears, save his brother, and become who he was always meant to be: Poet Anderson.”

‘Poet Anderson… Of Nightmares’ will be released on October 6 via publisher Simon & Schuster. DeLonge directed the ‘Poet Anderson: The Dream Walker’ short animated film in 2014, also basing a comic book series on the character.

DeLonge recently attributed his literary ambitions as a reason for his parting of ways with Blink 182.

He wrote in a now deleted Instagram post: “One of the reasons all this Blink stuff went haywire was because I am in six contracts with Best Selling Authors that are co-writing 15 Novels with me personally. Each one has an EP soundtrack that launches with it.”

“I told my manager the contract that was sent to me for the Blink deal contained weird new language that I had to drop all that music for almost a year. I said I couldn’t, but I could record the album in and around those things that were already in the works. He wrote them an email saying I’m out- (I didn’t know- and he was only talking about the deal) next thing you know, a press release saying things I didn’t say. Here we are….. Well…. Read a f—ing book- at least one of mine, please.”
