The rapper performed 'Mama Said Knock You Out' during the encore
On Wednesday night (November 13), the rapper came out and joined the band at The Wiltern in the middle of their 1997 single ‘Dammit’, which originally featured on the punk pop group’s second album, ‘Dude Ranch’. LL Cool J then performed his 1991 hit ‘Mama Said Knock You Out’ before leaving the stage so the band could resume ‘Dammit’. Click above to see the performance.
The show was the last night of a run of five shows at which Blink-182 performed their untitled 2003 album in full in Los Angeles. They followed two nights at the Hollywood Palladium (November 6, 7) with three shows at The Wiltern (November 11, 12, 13). Released in 2003, the album was Blink-182’s fifth studio album. Since its release the band have put out just one more full length LP, ‘Neighborhoods’, in 2011.
Tragedy hit the second night of the shows as a fan fell from the balcony at the Hollywood Palladium. TMZ reported that the fan survived the fall, but fell “face first” onto the ground off the 15-20 foot balcony. A witness told the gossip website that the impact of the incident – which happened during ‘Dammit’ in the encore – made the “gnarliest splat on the ground… I can still hear the sound. It was awful.” The fan was a close friend of the band and was covered in blood after the incident, after which he was swiftly taken to a local hospital.
