Kele Okereke pays tribute to the Scottish spirit

Bloc Party brought the hits to T In The Park this afternoon (July 6), as the weather cleared and the sun came out.

Singer Kele Okereke even applauded the Scottish for their spirit in the face of the severely muddy conditions.

Okereke told the crowd: “I was walking round the site earlier and I thought ‘Jesus, it’s so muddy, no one’s going to enjoy this’. But I was foolish, I forgot we were playing to the Scottish. Your will is indomitable!”

The singer also expressed his pride at playing at the first ever Friday in the festival’s history.

In a set packed with crowd favourites, standouts included ‘Banquet’, ‘The Prayer’ and ‘So Here We Are’.

Introducing the latter, Okereke said: “This is a song designed to be heard in wet fields.”

Bloc Party played:

‘Song For Clay (Disappear Here)’

‘Positive Tension’

‘Hunting For Witches’

‘Waiting For The 7.18’

‘Banquet’

‘Blue Light’

‘The Prayer’

‘Two More Years’

‘Uniform’

‘So Here We Are’

‘Like Eating Glass’

‘She’s Hearing Voices’

‘Helicopter’
