Bloc Party announce June UK tour – ticket details

Band will showcase new material on three-date trek

Bloc Party have announced details of a UK tour, which will take place this June.

The band, who are currently working on the follow up to their 2008 LP ‘Intimacy’, will play three low-key shows. The trek kicks off with a date at Glasgow Garage on June 19, followed by a show at Manchester’s HMV Ritz on June 20 and wrapping up at London KOKO on June 21. They will also play a run of European and US shows throughout the summer – for more information, see

Speaking about the tour dates, frontman Kele Okereke said: “Hello intenet. I know it’s been a long two and half years since Bloc Party last performed in the UK. Well it seems that wait is over, we are happy to announce a short run of intimate shows for our friends in the UK and our friends in the US.

He also revealed that the band would be playing material from the as-yet-untitled new LP, adding: “We will be playing choice cuts from our new record as well as some more familiar jams. We hope to see you soon.”

Last month (March 22), Bloc Party revealed that they had inked a new record deal with French Kiss Records, and will also be re-releasing their 2004 single ‘She’s Hearing Voices’ for this year’s Record Store Day on April 21. They will also play a number of European festivals this summer, including Mallorca and Ibiza Rocks on September 4 and 5, respectively.

Last year Kele courted controversy by claiming that while he was busy with his solo career, the remaining members of Bloc Party would be auditioning new singers to allow them to continue playing together. Bloc Party soon backtracked on the admission, which had been made to NME.

Bloc Party will play:

Glasgow Garage (June 19)
Manchester HMV Ritz (20)
London KOKO (21)
