Bloc Party’s Russell Lissack to work with new Japanese band

Guitarist has one more project on the go before returning to his band

Bloc Party‘s Russell Lissack is working with a new band from Japan, he has revealed.

The guitarist has been filling in with Ash during the Bloc Party hiatus, which he recently revealed is set to end later this year.

But he has also found time to produce for Japanese duo Heavenstamp, who he will also write with.

Lissack told NME: “They’re two fans from Japan who got in touch with us and I’m producing their record. They’re called Heavenstamp. I’m also going to make a cameo appearance when they play live and I’ll be writing with them.”

He only discovered the band after they reached out to him online, explaining: “They sent me their MySpace and I had a listen. I really liked it and offered to remix some songs and ended up producing some stuff.”
