Alex James to host radio show

Blur bassist to share his farming wisdom

Blur bassist Alex James is to host his own radio show next year.

He is due to share his experiences as a 200 acre landowner in the Cotswolds on BBC Radio 4’s On Your Farm programme.

Steve Peacock, executive producer of the show, said: “I would anticipate there are plenty of farmers who would sneer at being told about farming by a guy from Blur, but when they get to know him they’ll realise he’s keen and really getting a grip on it.”

James will take over as one of the regular presenters from January 14 for the show, which airs on Sundays from 6.35am, reports BBC 6 Music.

The Blur bassist, who also presents the newly relaunched radio version of The Tube for Channel 4, keeps 400 sheep and practices traditional cheese-making.
