Blur’s new album ‘The Magic Whip’ outselling rest of top five combined en route to Number One

New entries also come from The Proclaimers, Jules Knight, MG and Mew

Blur are set to be Number One in the Official UK Album Chart this week with their new album ‘The Magic Whip’ leading the sales figures at today’s midweek stage.

Blur released their latest album on Monday (April 27) and it is currently outselling the rest of the Top Five combined. Should it stay ahead of the competition, ‘The Magic Whip’ will be Blur’s sixth Number One album following ‘Parklife’, ‘The Great Escape’, ‘Blur’, ’13’ and ‘Think Tank’.

Other new entries in this week’s Official Album Chart at today’s midweek stage include The Proclaimers, Jules Knight (19), MG – aka Martin Gore of Depeche Mode (27), and Mew (29).

Meanwhile, in the Official UK Singles Chart, Wiz Khalifa could lose his position at the top spot with his single ‘See You Again’, likely to be toppled by Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘I Really Like You’. Jepsen’s single is currently 1,000 sales ahead of Khalifa.

The full chart rundown is announced on BBC Radio 1 this Sunday (May 3).
