Bon Jovi set to play first gig at new Wembley

Jon and co will rock the home of football

Bon Jovi are set to be the first band to play the new Wembley Stadium when it re-opens next year.

The home of English football – which hosted the original Live Aid in 1985 along with many other massive gigs – is currently being redeveloped into a 90,000 capacity stadium, the largest football arena in the world.

The new Wembley is set to reopen with the FA Cup Final in May 2006, before Bon Jovi play the first concert set on June 11 as part of their UK tour, the Mirror reports.

Bon Jovi who played the stadium in 1995 and 2000, are also expected to visit several other large venues on next year’s tour.

Tickets for the Wembley gig go on sale on September 30 at 9am. See NME tickets for availability.
