It's a 40th birthday party
The Beach Boys‘ Brian Wilson is to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of the band’s classic ‘Pet Sounds’ album by performing it in full at a one-off show.
The star will play the LP, as well as host of other classics, on November 1 at the Royce Hall at the University College of Los Angeles. Scritti Politti will support.
It will be the first time in four years that Wilson and his regular backing band have performed the album, which is regarded as one of the greatest of all time. It was released in May 1966.
Since then, Wilson finally got round to recording ‘Pet Sounds’’ intended follow-up, ‘Smile’.
Following its 2004 release, he went round the world performing that record in its entirety.
