Rapper namechecks Barack Obama in his speech

Kanye West has picked up the award for Best International Male Solo Artist at tonight’s (February 18) BRIT Awards at London‘s Earls Court.

The rapper wasn’t there in person to collect his award. Instead, he recorded a video speech thanking fans and paying tribute to US President Barack Obama.

“Yo BRITs! What’s up?” West said in his speech. “Barack is the ‘Best Inter-racial Male’ but I’m proud to be the Best International Male in the world.

“That means every nation, right? So if you go to a club and you’re a girl and you see me… you gotta have the best!”

The acts nominated for Best International Male were:

Neil Diamond

Kanye West

Seasick Steve
