British Sea Power to headline festival in fort

The band head for a unique location

British Sea Power are to headline and host a new festival in a fort next month.

The band play the Fort Rox Festival on August 12. The event is described as “the most ambitious outdoor event to take place in the East Sussex area”, and will be held in the parade ground within the Newhaven Fort walls.

This location is built up on a cliff and, according to the organisers, is the largest work of defence ever constructed in Sussex. Following its abandonment as a military fortification, it has now been restored as a visitor attraction.

Other bands confirmed for the bash include The Duke Spirit, My Latest Novel and The Research.

Various other attractions will include guided tours of the Fort perimeter courtesy of the local cadets, authentic wartime swing bands and a giant beer tent.
