'Femme Fatale' star set to become a judge on US series, say reports
Britney Spears is set to sign a $16 million (£10 million) deal to become a judge on the US version of The X Factor, according to reports.
The singer has been heavily linked with a role on the show in recent months and, according to US Weekly, is about to put pen to paper on a contract that would make her one of the best-paid reality TV stars in the world.
A source said:
No paperwork has actually been signed yet. But they finally came to terms. It was a long negotiation… Britney was a natural fit.
A representative from the show, however, refused to confirm the speculation and said: “We still refuse to confirm any talks at this time.” Another source, meanwhile, added: “Nothing has happened and nothing has changed . . . this is wildly exaggerated.”
Former judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul will not be taking part in the new Stateside series of The X Factor and their replacements have not yet been confirmed. Cowell and Epic Records boss LA Reid will continue their roles as judges on the show.
Britney Spears released her debut album ‘…Baby, One More Time’ in 1999 and has since gone on to put out seven studio LPs. Her last effort, ‘Femme Fatale’, was released in March 2011.
