Reports suggest that the singer could appear alongside Simon Cowell on the new US series of the show

Britney Spears is apparently closing a deal to become a judge on the next US series of The X Factor.

The pop singer’s fiancé and agent Jason Trawick is, according to the Hollywood Reporter, currently negotiating her contract, which could be signed next week.

Show creator Simon Cowell apparently contacted Spears with the proposition. Cowell has not yet commented on the rumours, but recently told journalists “there’s going to be a lot of twists and turns over the next few weeks and a lot of things we’re going to announce”.

Former judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul will not be taking part in the new Stateside series of The X Factor and their replacements have not yet been confirmed. Cowell and Epic Records boss LA Reid will continue their roles as judges on the show.

Britney Spears might also feature on Nicki Minaj‘s new album ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’, released April 3.

The Spears’ fansite Breatheheavy.com is suggesting that the ‘Femme Fatale’ singer has teamed up with the ‘Superbass’ rapper after a ‘leaked’ tracklisting for the LP surfaced online. Previously, Minaj performed live with Spears on her ‘Femme Fatale’ tour last year, and also featured on a remix of her single ‘Till The World Ends’.

The site says that Spears may have contributed to a track from the album titled ‘Masquerade’.
