Broken Social Scene have announced that they will release their next studio album in May.

The Canadian collective’s new album, which will be their fifth and is as yet untitled, will be released on May 3. It will be the follow-up to their 2005 self-titled effort.

The album was produced by John McEntire of Tortoise at Chicago‘s Soma Studios, with further sessions at Giant Studios and The Schvitz Studio in Toronto.

They are set to play live at the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival in Minehead on May 14, followed by an appearance at The Great Escape in Brighton on May 15.
