Bruce Springsteen has been announced as the keynote speaker at next year’s South By Southwest festival, according to reports.

According to The Telegraph, The Boss will follow in the footsteps of the likes of Johnny Cash by giving a music lecture at the Texas bash, which takes place in March 2012.

South By Southwest organisers have released a statement which reads: “His [Springsteen’s] recordings include time-tested classics of rock and acoustic-based albums celebrating folk traditions. His love shows are truly fervent celebrations of the communal power of music.

“As SXSW fosters connection and communication in the music community, this event will undoubtedly further those aims in an unique conference session.”

Earlier this month, Bruce Springsteen was announced as the first headliner of next summer’s Isle Of Wight Festival, which takes place on June 22 – 24 2012, and London‘s Hard Rock Calling festival, which is scheduled for July 13 – 15 next year.

The singer is also currently putting the finishing touches to his 18th studio album and recently revealed that the LP is almost complete but remains untitled.
