Libertines man offers up first taste of next solo album
Carl Barat has revealed a demo version of new song ‘War Of The Roses’.
The track was put online by Barat ahead of the release of his next solo album, due out later in the year. Fans reacting to ‘War Of The Roses’ have compared the track to Guns N’ Roses and ‘In Bloom’ by Nirvana.
Barat also took part in a Facebook chat with fans after uploading ‘War Of The Roses’, in which over 1,500 queries were sent his way. You can find out how he answered questions about everything from who his favourite guitarists are to future acting roles on Barat’s Facebook page now.
The Libertines man recently revealed to NME that his new record will be more guitar-based than his 2010 self-titled solo debut, which was piano-led. Former Smiths legend Johnny Marr plays on one song demo, singer-songwriter Ed Harcourt plays piano, while former Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows has helped Barat out with some songwriting duties. Also helping with writing are Dan Miller, singer with London newcomers Eyes On Film – with whom Barat has been playing guitar recently – and Benjamin Biolay, the French actor/singer.
Biolay and Barat met when they both appeared in Pop’pea, the musical that ran in Paris last summer.
