World-renowned techno DJ and producer CARL CRAIG has announced the line-up for the second annual DETROIT ELECTRONIC FESTIVAL.
During a press conference in Detroit on March 29, Craig announced that the three-day free event, which drew more than 1.5 million people to the banks of the Detroit River last year, will return for a second year over the weekend of May 26-28. The event will feature more than 70 performances across four stages.
The headliners for this year’s festival are expected to include Detroit techno gurus Derrick May – slated to close the event on the main stage May 28 – and Kevin Saunderson’s Inner City. Other scheduled performers include De La Soul, Laurent Garnier, Mix Master Mike, LTJ Bukem, Autechre and Carl Cox.
“It has always been my dream to serenade the Renaissance Center and Hart Plaza,” revealed Craig, the festival’s artistic director. “I’ve worked to make sure we have great representation, great variety from Detroit and the world.”
“No other city in America is doing something as progressive, as meaningful, and as far-reaching for it’s young people,” added Carol Marvin, CEO of Pop Culture Media, the festival’s producer.
