'Robin Williams' is taken from new album 'Heart Blanche'
CeeLo Green has returned with new single ‘Robin Williams’, a tribute to the late comedian who died last year.
The soul singer’s new track sees him namecheck Williams, star of much-loved films including Dead Poets Society and Mrs Doubtfire, as well as fellow deceased actors Richard Pryor, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and John Belushi.
Produced by Jon Bellion (co-writer of Eminem and Rihanna’s ‘The Monster’), the track is the first to be taken from Green’s new album ‘Heart Blanche’ which will be released on November 6.
Gnarls Barkley singer Green escaped jail time last year after pleading no contest to drugs charges. He was subsequently forced to apologise after tweeting controversial remarks about rape immediately afterwards.
Green pleaded no contest to drugs charges. The singer was accused of secretly slipping ecstasy into the drink of his dinner date at a sushi restaurant in July 2012, and was sentenced to three years of formal probation and ordered to complete 360 hours of community service.
Speaking about his new song, Green said: “‘Robin Williams’ is an homage to our humanity, centred around the strength it takes to smile in the face of adversity.”
