US hip-hop star unable to perform at California event due to ill health
Chance The Rapper cancelled his appearance at Coachella this weekend (April 20) after being admitted to hospital for unknown reasons.
The US hip-hop star was expected to perform at the second weekend of the California event but a statement released on the day of his slot revealed that he was currently recovering in hospital and would be unable to play live.
The statement from Chance The Rapper’s management reads: “On behalf of Chance and our entire team- We sincerely regret to have to cancel our 2nd weekend at Coachella. Chance fell ill on Friday night & was admitted to the hospital today – Doctors and family are with him & he is expected to make a full recovery. Thank you for the prayers and support during this time, Chance, the CTR team and family deeply appreciate it.”
The pop idol came onstage to act as the up and coming hip-hop star’s hype man during Chance’s show on the main Coachella stage at the festival whilst Chance performed his part from James Blake’s ‘Life Round Here’. After the performance, Bieber tweeted: “That was fun” and posted a link to the below Instagram video:
