Follow up to 'Sucker' will be finished by February
Charli XCX is close to finishing her new album and expects to have completed it by the end of the month.
The singer tweeted a picture of herself on Twitter and told fans that she was hard at work on the follow up to 2014’s ‘Sucker’. “Im going to finish recording my new album next week,” she wrote.
Speaking last year, XCX described the album as being “the most pop thing, and the most electronic thing I’ve done.” She later revealed new track titled ‘Vroom Vroom’, a collaboration with UK producer SOPHIE and gave the track its first play during her spot as a guest presenter on Beats1 Radio on October 20.
She also pulled out of a headline US tour in September, claiming she was unhappy on the road and unable to be creative.
Speaking about her plans for new music, XCX compared her next album to Paris Hilton’s music and revealed that she is writing for Rihanna.
“I’ve been really inspired by Paris Hilton, small dogs and a glitter, luxe lifestyle,” she told The Mirror in 2015. “I’ve never met Paris before, but we were both at the amFAR Gala during the Cannes Film Festival this year. I was performing and I saw her singing along to my song and I freaked out. I’m such a fan and one of my favourite songs ever is ‘Stars Are Blind’ – it’s pop genius.
