Cheryl Cole goes straight to Number One in UK albums chart

'X Factor' judge is denied chart double by Rihanna

Cheryl Cole has gone straight to Number One in the UK albums chart tonight (November 7) with ‘Messy Little Raindrops’.

It is the second time the Girls Aloud singer and X Factor judge has hit the top spot with a solo album after her debut LP ‘3 Words’ went to Number One last year.

However, she was denied a UK chart double by Rihanna, whose latest track ‘Only Girl (In The World)’ replaced Cole‘s ‘Promise This’ at Number One in the singles chart.

Rihanna has now scored a Number One in each of the last four years after hitting the top spot with ‘Umbrella’ (2007), ‘Take A Bow’ (2008) and ‘Run This Town’ (2009), according to the Official Charts Company.

There were four new entries in the albums chart top 10, including Bon Jovi at Number Two with ‘Greatest Hits’ and Rumer‘s ‘Seasons Of My Soul’ at Number Three.

In the singles chart, Alexis Jordan went in at Number Three with ‘Happiness, while The Saturdays featuring Flo Rida moved up to Number 10 with ‘Higher’.
