Chris Brown takes his name off Kids’ Choice Awards ballot

Singer declines nomination in wake of assault charges

Chris Brown has removed his name from the Kids’ Choice Awards ballot in the wake of the assault charges he is facing.

The singer was nominated for favourite male singer and favourite song for ‘Kiss Kiss’ at the event, set to take place on March 28 on kids’ television network Nickelodeon.

But following Brown‘s alleged attack on his girlfriend Rihanna, a petition was circulated to take his name off the ballot, and Nickelodeon has reportedly received several calls from angry parents demanding he be taken out of the running.

Yesterday, Nickelodeon issued a statement saying that Brown‘s name would not be removed. But today (March 11), his representatives told the Associated Press that he decided to take his name out of consideration. They added that he would like to speak directly to his fans, but he is not able to because of his criminal case. Brown also thanked his fans for their support.
