Chris Brown appears in court over Rihanna beating

He is not ordered to stay away from her

Chris Brown has appeared in court in Los Angeles today (March 5) on charges of assault likely to cause great bodily injury and making criminal threats.

Wearing a grey three-piece pinstripe suit, Brown entered the court with his hands clasped behind his back. His mother and other members of his family watched as Brown was ordered by a court commissioner not to harass, threaten or harm anyone.

Attorney Donald Etra, representing Brown’s girlfriend Rihanna, asked that the commissioner not order Brown to stay away from her, which appears to confirm reports that the pair are back together.

As reported earlier today, the felony complaint was handed down in court this morning (March 5) and identified Rihanna by the name Robyn F. Her full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty. If Brown is convicted he faces up to eight years in prison.

Details of the fight between Brown and Rihanna were also today revealed in a detective’s affidavit.

It says that Brown shoved Rihanna’s head against the window of his car, repeatedly punched and bit her and put her in a headlock so that she almost lost consciousness.

The attack happened after Rihanna read a text message from a woman on Brown’s phone. He tried to push her out of the car, a rented Lamborghini, but she was wearing a seatbelt.

The affidavit was filed as part of a search warrant request for the phone records of Brown, Rihanna and her assistant, reports the Associated Press.
