Ex-Death Row Records CEO has reportedly undergone surgery

Marion “Suge” Knight Jr, the former CEO of Death Row Records, has reportedly been shot between two and six times.

According to TMZ reports, Knight was attending a pre-MTV Video Music Awards party hosted by singer Chris Brown at the he 1Oak nightclub in West Hollywood early this morning (August 24). Shots were fired at around 1:30AM local time (9:30AM Greenwich Mean Time).

Knight was taken to hospital by ambulance where he has undergone surgery. While reports vary on the number of times he was hit, TMZ sources say the 49-year-old was shot in the stomach and arm, but managed walk out of the nightclub with police assistance.

The website also reports Knight to be one of three people shot, with one victim now in critical condition. Model Tyson Beckford and Black Eyed Peas’ member apl.de.ap were among those in attendance at the club, while rapper Game is said to have become involved in an altercation with security guards earlier in the evening.

The VMAs take place tonight (August 24) at the Inglewood Forum in California. Performers include Nicki Minaj, Usher, Maroon 5, Iggy Azalea and 5 Seconds Of Summer.

Last September, Knight was picked up by police in LA after failing to attend court. The rap mogul was arrested after being stopped for driving erratically. He was subsequently arrested for failing to appear at a court date earlier in the year to answer two cases which also involved driving on a suspended license.
