Brown reportedly labelled his fellow singer a 'homo'
According to Advocate, Brown – whose new album ‘Fortune’ claimed the Number One spot in the Official Album Chart earlier this month (July 9) – was asked about his fellow singer while leaving the Cannes club. He is said to have replied: “Man, no homo” without making any further comment.
As Advocate states, the phrase ‘No Homo’ is a slang phrase used to reject any notion of something that could be deemed homosexual. Brown’s use of the term comes shortly after Ocean published a Tumblr post in which he discussed his sexuality and revealed that his first love had been a man.
Brown is also currently involved in a dispute with Drake following their alleged nightclub brawl, while his relationship with ex-girlfriend Rihanna – who he was convicted of assaulting on the eve of the 2009 Grammy Awards – has been the source of much speculation in recent months amidst rumours that they have rekindled their romance.
Ocean, meanwhile, released his first official album ‘Channel Orange’ earlier this month. The LP follows last year’s ‘Nostalgia, ULTRA’ mixtape and features contributions from Outkast’s Andre 3000, John Mayer and his Odd Future bandmates Tyler, The Creator and Earl Sweatshirt.
Despite Brown’s alleged comments, Ocean has received a wealth of support from other music starts since he opened up about his sexuality, with both Beyonce and 50 Cent amongst the artists to give him their public backing.
