Ofcom and ITV receive complaints over raunchy performances
Both acts were scantily-clad for the show, which started broadcasting at 7pm (GMT). Around 1,000 people contacted broadcasting regulator Ofcom about the performances, with almost the same amount complaining to ITV, reports BBC News.
An Ofcom spokesman confirmed that people had complained, but said: “We are assessing the complaints but are not currently investigating the show.”
A spokesperson for ITV1 also defended the show, saying: “We are confident that the performances given by our guest artistes on Saturday were appropriate for the show.”
Over 17.2million viewers saw Matt Cardle crowned the winner of this year’s The X Factor on Sunday night. He looks set to top the UK singles chart this Sunday with his cover of Biffy Clyro‘s ‘Many Of Horror’, renamed ‘When We Collide’.
Biffy Clyro have reacted to Cardle’s cover, calling it “quite funny”.
