Glasgow band share electro-pop version of hit HBO show theme

Chvrches have recorded a cover version of the Game Of Thrones theme tune. Scroll down to listen to it now.

The Scottish electro-pop act suggested the idea of recording a version of the opening music to the hit HBO series on Twitter earlier this week, asking fans: “Should we cover the Game Of Thrones theme song? I kinda feel like we should. I might be on my own here though.” A studio shot live version of the song was posted online yesterday though with singer Lauren Mayberry providing vocals very briefly on the minute long version before it ends with all three members of the group laughing.

Game Of Thrones recently returned to UK screens for its third season. The show, which airs on Sky Atlantic, has already been renewed for a fourth season with cast member Charles Dance accidentally letting slip the news that a fourth season is already in the works. HBO has since confirmed that the show will definitely be returning for a new run of episodes next year (2014).

Game Of Thrones, based on the novels by George RR Martin, has been a major hit for HBO since it debuted in 2011. It also holds the unfortunate honour of being the most pirated TV show on the internet. Chvrches recently released an EP titled recover and will tour later this month.
