Watch Mayberry sing 'Boys of the Summer' and 'Wrecking Ball'

Chvrches‘ Lauren Mayberry covered Don Healy and Miley Cyrus at Greg Barris’ Heart of Darkness comedy event at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn last night (Nov 3).

Performing Healy’s ‘Boys of Summer’ and Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball’, the Chvrches’ frontwoman also covered Ben Folds Five’s ‘Brick’.

The ‘Wrecking Ball’ performance was accompanied by an interpretive dance by comedian Seth Herzog, who donned a Wonder Woman costume. You can watch all three covers below.

Earlier this year, Chvrches said that they felt grateful to be able to fit in at more rock-oriented festivals like Reading and Leeds.

The electro trio returned to Reading and Leeds for a third time this summer, making the step up to the main stage for the first time. During their Reading set, they dedicated the song ‘Under The Tide’ to Harambe, the gorilla who was shot and killed at Cincinnati Zoo earlier this year.

“We’ve been pretty lucky that we’ve played so many different kinds of festivals over the course of the summer,” singer Lauren Mayberry told NME backstage at Reading. “So I feel like we’ve figured out what we wanna do with the set – it’s a good mix of first and second album [tracks].”

Going on to discuss Chvrches’ versatility as a live act, Mayberry added: “I think we’ve worked hard to make the live show a proper live show rather than just kind of a glorified playback party. It’s nice for us that we can fit in at a rock festival like this but also play more dancey things or pop things as well.”

“Doing those different kind of things, I think, makes you better as a live act,” she concluded.
