Cloud Nothings' Dylan Baldi spent the last 10 days in LA writing with Nathan Williams of Wavves.
Earlier this week, Baldi confirmed the album’s completion on his band’s Twitter page, but deleted the tweet shortly after. Despite this, Baldi later confirmed that he was in Los Angeles’ Eagle Rock neighbourhood earlier this month (March), writing and recording with Williams.
Speaking about the collaboration to Exclaim, Baldi explained: “I woke up one morning hungover in Paris, which is where I usually live, and I just had a text on my phone that was like, ‘Yo, wanna make a record together?'” I was like ‘…OK!’ And that was it. It sounded fun.”
He continued: “The whole time I’ve been here we’ve been recording, all day, every day. We’re almost done! Everything’s shaping up.”
Although Baldi refused to talk in detail about the record, he stated that the songs are “good” and that he’s “excited about them”, adding that they’ve recorded “eight good ones,” that don’t sound like either of their respective bands. “More between and also not the things either of us do. It’s between and [there’s] also another element that wasn’t present in either of our music before.”
Despite Baldi’s information, release details for the collaboration remain uncertain. Cloud Nothings release their fourth album ‘Here And Nowhere Else’ next week (March 31), whilst Wavves have just completed their lengthy tour supporting their fourth album ‘Afraid Of Heights’.
