Coldplay open exhibition by ‘Ghost Stories’ artist Mila Fürstová

Profits will go to the Kids Company charity

Coldplay have opened an exhibition by ‘Ghost Stories’ artwork creator Mila Fürstová – pictured above with the band.

The band attended the launch of the exhibit in Shoreditch earlier this evening (December 3), with proceeds from the sale of Fürstová’s work going to Kids Company, a charity helping disadvantaged children. Speaking about Fürstová’s etchings, Chris Martin commented: “Sometimes a piece of art looks exactly like you think your song sounds. On ‘Ghost Stories’, Mila somehow managed this time and time again. Her etchings showed exactly what we were trying to say.”

Kids Company CEO Camila Batmanghelidjh spoke about the charity aspect of the evening’s event, stating: “For the children of Kids Company, Coldplay are real superheroes whose genuine philanthropy has helped change their lives for the better. If you are looking for magic, this band generates it on all levels.” At a similar event selling the artwork for their previous album ‘Mylo Xyloto’ £750,000 was raised for Kids Company.

Coldplay have just released a DVD and Blu-ray of a specially-recorded concert at which they premiered tracks from 2014’s ‘Ghost Stories’ LP. Filmed by director Paul Dugdale, Ghost Stories Live 2014 was recorded in March 2014 in a custom-built amphitheatre at Sony Studios, Los Angeles.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin said of the show: “The ‘Ghost Stories’ show at Sony Studios was a very special moment for our band. The magic theatre built by our incredible crew with the 360 [degree] screens was literally a dream come true. And it was the first time anyone outside of our studio had heard the new songs. This film is basically our original vision for the ‘Ghost Stories’ album.” The release includes a ‘Ghost Stories’ live album recorded at the intimate, international shows they performed between April and July of this year. Eight music videos from the album complete the package.

‘Ghost Stories’ went straight to the top of iTunes sales charts in 72 different countries around the world on its May 19 release.
