The star claims she was unaware of the campaign

Courtney Love has denied that she had anything to do with Kurt Cobain’s appearance in a new advertising campaign.

As previously reported Cobain, Joe Strummer, Joey Ramone and Sid Vicious are featured in the campaign, where they appear as angels wearing Doc Martens boots in heaven for Saatchi & Saatchi.

A representative for Love said: “Courtney had no idea this was taking place and would never have approved such a use.

“She thinks it’s outrageous that a company is allowed to commercially gain from such a despicable use of her husband’s picture.”

Dr Martens have also publicly apologised for the advert, reports Idolator.

In a statement, they said: “Dr Martens is very sorry for any offence that has been caused by the publication of images showing dead rock icons wearing Dr Martens boots.

Dr Martens did not commission the work as it runs counter to our current marketing activities based on FREEDM, which is dedicated to nurturing grass roots creativity and supporting emerging talent.

“As a consequence, Dr Martens has terminated its relationship with the responsible agency.”
