COURTNEY HEADING FOR COURT AGAIN

And she'll be back in court very soon...

Courtney Love is heading to trial.

The rocker will stand trial on one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon, beginning November 10. The charge stems from an incident in April of this year when Courtney Love turned up at the home of ex-boyfriend James Barber, and allegedly struck Kristin King with a variety of items.

Yesterday (October 27) Courtney Love, dressed in Marc Jacob and wearing a pendant given to her by REM’s Michael Stipe, sat in court as King gave testimony that Courtney Love attacked her.

King said she had been sleeping on the couch at Barber’s house when Courtney Love angrily confronted Barber over an undisclosed issue. King said she tried to hide her presence by pulling the blanket covering her, up over her face. She said Courtney Love entered the room though, dumping alcohol on her and tossing the bottle at her face before pinching her breast and pinning her down. “She sat on me. I was trying to get out of her grip but I couldn’t because it was like ‘The Terminator’. So strong,” she told the court.

King testified that following the fracas she ran to a neighbour’s where she called for a cab home. She admitted under cross examination she did not receive medical treatment until several days after the incident.

Also called to the stand yesterday was neighbour Marilyn Corre, who was awoken on the morning of the incident by women shouting. She said she saw King come out of the house crying and yelling, followed by Courtney Love. “She came charging out of the house. She had in her hand an extremely large torch. The other lady was backing away. They were yelling at each other.”

Following the hearing, Commissioner Sanjay T Kumar ruled there was enough evidence presented to back up the charge, and the case was set for trial early next month. Courtney Love is currently free on bail.
