Frances Bean Cobain says Courtney Love’s drug addiction killed her pets

Hole rocker also says taking crack made her better at maths

Frances Bean Cobain has said that the drug addiction of her mother, Courtney Love, led to the death of two of her pets.

A new ebook from Thefix.com called Courtney Comes Clean by author Maer Roshan details the court deposition documents from 2009 when Cobain filed a restraining order against Love, in which she describes the Hole rocker’s problems with narcotics.

The now 19-year-old claimed that her cat died after becoming entangled in Love’s possessions such as piles of rubbish, boxes of paperwork and piles of fabrics, and also said that her dog died after swallowing some of the singer’s sleeping pills.

She also alleged:

[Love] has taken drugs for as long as I can remember. She basically exists now on… Xanax, Adderall, Sonata and Abilify, sugar and cigarettes. She rarely eats… She often falls asleep in her bed while she is smoking, and I am constantly worried that she will start a fire (which she has done at least three times) that will threaten our lives.

In an interview taken from the same tome, meanwhile, Love says that taking crack cocaine had improved her aptitude for mathematics. “I’ve never been good with numbers, but when I was on crack I could do math really, really well,” she said. “I became a fucking wiz at calculus.”

However, the singer also insists she has now cleaned up her act, adding: “I’m sober. I’m fabulous. I have a few character defects, but I’m not dishonourable and I’m not a liar. I have a good heart.

“I’ve never claimed to be anyone’s role model. I’m not Mother Theresa. All I’m trying to do is stay alive,” she concluded.

Last month, Love won a legal dispute with her New York landlady. Property owner Donna Lyons had claimed that the grunge icon owed over $50,000 (£32,000) in rent, but a court judgement ruled that the pair had agreed a different payment schedule and Love had been making her rent payments according to the new agreement.

Last year, meanwhile, Love reportedly signed a deal to pen her own memoir. It is thought that the book will “set the record straight” about her marriage to Nirvana late frontman Kurt Cobain, her career as a rock star and actress, and her relationships with other celebrities.
