Police have launched an investigation after 21 MTV EUROPE AWARDS were stolen from the music station’s LONDON offices.
The MTV Europe Music Awards took place at the Festhalle in Frankfurt, Germany last week (November 8).
A spokesperson for MTV told NME.COM that a box containing the awards was taken from their headquarters between late Monday (November 12) and Tuesday morning (13).
Dismissing reports elsewhere, the spokesperson said that the awards did not belong to the award winners including Craig David, Gorillaz and Robbie Williams, but instead were not engraved and used backstage for publicity purposes.
She commented: “The MTV Europe Music Awards that were stolen from MTV were blank awards that had been used backstage for publicity purposes in the photo room, by TV crews and by the side of the stage. The theft is currently being investigated by police. The winning artist’s awards were not stolen and are currently being engraved and will be delivered to the artists as soon as they are ready.”
