Daft Punk confirmed for Coachella

The dance duo join the bill

Daft Punk are the latest act to be announced for California’s Coachella Festival.

The French duo of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem Christo will be playing a full live set, event promoters Goldenvoice confirmed late last night (February 2).

It will be the electronic duo’s first US appearance in almost six years. The group join previously announced headliners Depeche Mode, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bloc Party and Tool.

The bill also features The Magic Numbers, Lady Sovereign, Wolf Parade, Editors, The Duke Spirit and Ladytron.

The Coachella Festival will take place at the Empire Polo Field in Indio, California between April 29 and 30.

Speaking to NME.COM, Coachella veteran and Ladytron mainman Daniel Hunt explained the appeal of the seventh annual international event.

“We played in 2003. It’s one of the most luxurious festivals going,” he said. “UK festivals tend to be pretty medieval – an exercise in human logistics, like an indie refugee camp, whereas Coachella is more about Tommy Lee riding carefree around the backstage on a Segway. And it’s southern California, the gene pool is 1000% sexier than your anglo-saxon mudbath. (We) can’t wait.”

Tickets for the festival go on sale on Saturday February 4.
