Russell Brand has jokingly said he thinks it’s a good idea to give new musicians heroin, in order to “weed a lot of them out”. He added that nearly all of his favourite musicians have battled drug problems, and explained his theory further by saying: “You’re just not allowed into the studio until you first have had drug- addiction issues. It separates the men from the boys.” Brand continued: “I don’t think Justin Bieber could handle Syd Barrett‘s habit” (Rolling Stone).
