Kasabian, Blur, Alex Turner – your Awards gossip stop
Welcome to the Daily Gossip: your daily stop-off to find out who in the world of music has been up to what.
Today, we’re bringing you all the top gossip from last night’s (February 25) Shockwaves NME Awards.
Today’s top gossip:
Pete Doherty and Carl Barat got cosy at the Shockwaves NME Awards last night. The two former Libertines beamed as they embraced each other at Doherty‘s table during the ceremony, which also seated other members of Babyshambles and Doherty‘s on-off girlfriend Irina Lazareanu.
As Doherty‘s name was read out as the winner in the Best Solo category, Barat – who was still seated with his friend – hugged and gave him the thumbs up. Doherty, on his way to collect the award, then looked back at Barat and hugged him once more. Barat later told NME.COM that he was completely comfortable supporting his ex-bandmate. “I’m supporting him tonight,” he said. “I’m completely happy doing that, it’s what I do innit?!”
From the awards:
Sarah Harding smoked fag after fag while sitting on the steps at the official afterparty at Dex in Brixton.
Damon Albarn was also at Dex‘s – wandering around with a camouflage rucksack and cap on.
Laura Marling was spotted getting cosy with boyfriend Marcus Mumford from Mumford And Sons (who is also her drummer too). The couple were seen holding hands at the official afterparty.
Klaxons‘ Simon Taylor-Davis, and former Dirty Pretty Things Didz Hammond, Antony Rossomando were also at the bash, while Miles Kane spent the evening chatting up girls.
Alexa Chung looked stroppy with Alex Turner at Dex.
MGMT carried on partying at Bungalow8.
Franz Ferdinand‘s Nick McCarthy danced in the middle bar of Dex‘s, still wearing his colourful stage outfit.
On the way into the Shockwaves NME Awards, La Roux tripped up on the red carpet stairs.
During the awards, when host Mark Watson shouted “Who’s drunk?” Pete Doherty waved his arms enthusiastically.
Before introducing Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon onstage, Watson went into the audience to say his introduction piece. Standing among the likes of tables seating The Horrors, The Killers, Girls Aloud and Babyshambles, he was showered in a flurry of cigarettes, sweets, cans and other assorted tat. The culprits? A beaming Pete Doherty and Babyshambles bandmate Mik Whitnall.
Doherty then proceeded to film Albarn and Coxon‘s performance on his mobile.
