From the papers:

Dizzee Rascal has slammed The X Factor. The rapper, who is a judge on Sky 1‘s rival show Must Be The Music, said contestants lacked talent and are more interested in fame than music. “Our acts are not deluded people who have woken up one day and decided they want to be the best singer in the world,” he said. “They know their craft, they’ve been doing it for years” (Daily Star).

George Michael was reportedly cheered as he began his sentence at Pentonville jail yesterday (September 15). The singer also apparently broke down as he arrived at the north London prison to start an eight-week sentence for crashing his car while under the influence of drugs (various).

Girls Aloud‘s Nadine Coyle has announced her engagement to her American football player boyfriend Jason Bell. The singer said he got down on two knees to propose to her because he suffered an injury. She also denied there was a rift between herself and the rest of the band. “Girls Aloud are on a break,” she said. “We took a break last year which we were always going to do at some point” (BBC Radio 1).
