Damon Albarn calls Jeremy Clarkson a ‘fucking arsehole’

Singer hits out at 'Top Gear' presenter for offending Argentinians

Damon Albarn has called Jeremy Clarkson “a fucking arsehole” after the Top Gear presenter drove through Argentina with licence plates referring to the Falklands War.

Albarn made his comments during a gig at the Gran Rex theatre in Argentina’s capital Buenos Aires on Wednesday (October 8).

The Blur and Gorillaz frontman told the crowd: “I want to really apologise for the behaviour of a guy called Jeremy Clarkson who does a programme called Top Gear.” He then raised his middle finger and said: “He’s a fucking arsehole.”

Clarkson caused controversy last week (October 3) when he was seen driving through Argentina with a licence plate reading H982 FKL, believed to be a reference to the Falklands War of 1982 between Britain and Argentina. He and other crew members of the BBC2 motoring show had to flee after they were stoned by angry locals.

Albarn’s debut solo album ‘Everyday Robots’ is nominated for the Barclaycard Mercury Prize, the winner of which is announced on October 29. He also plays shows at London Royal Albert Hall on November 15-16.
