Dan Deacon cancels US tour after being hospitalised

'Acute Sciatica' causes him to postpone his remaining five dates

Dan Deacon has had to cancel the remainder of his US tour after being hospitalised with back problems.

The Maryland musician who as been touring in support of his latest album ‘Bromst’, has got acute sciatica which this week has worsened leading to his hospitalisation.

“On wednesday evening the pain had come to a peak,” Deacon told fans via Facebook. “It was impossible to bear and it was frightening, since I had no idea why this was happening.” He added.

Deacon also revealed that despite cancelling the rest of his shows they would be rescheduled, although he did say that he was going to have to change the way he looks after his health.

“I need to focus more on my health, which will lead to a clearer mind and a more focused music.” He explained. “I’m excited about the future and the various paths that are being presented ahead of me. I’m not sure what the future will bring but hopefully I’ll see you there.” He added.

The cancelled dates are as follows:

Worcester, MA Clark University (14)
Ithaca, NY Ithaca College (15)
Purchase, NY SUNY Purchase (16)
Baltimore, MD The Ottobar (18)
