A collection of songs by one of Dave Grohl‘s pre-Nirvana bands have been uncovered.
Eight songs from Dain Bramage’s 1986 Laundry Rooms demos, named after the studio in which they were recorded, have been posted online by Antiquiet. You can listen to the songs, which include ‘Space Cat’, ‘Watching It Bake’ and ‘Success’, as well as a cover of Grand Funk Railroad’s ‘We’re An American Band’, below.
Dain Bramage, which also featured Reuben Radding and Dave Smith, were formed in December 1985 from the ashes of a previous band Mission Imposible. They stayed together for around two years before splitting when Grohl left to join another band, Scream.
Radding and Smith apparently tried to find a new drummer and carry on without success. Radding later commented: “After you’ve spent a couple years with Dave Grohl as your drummer it’s easy to feel like no other drummer exists.” According to Antiquiet, the songs to exist on vinyl and a copies of the band’s debut album sometimes change hands among collectors.
The three members of Dain Bramage remain close, with a new photograph of them together recently posted on the Foo Fighters’ Twitter page.
